"Mm..."

"... Nn.. AH!"

Erin bolted up. All muscles tensed in her body, pain striking trough every nerve. Something she should have not done.

Anyone could have heard the loud bang afterwards. And some few could hear the load and painfull groan.

After having been awake more then some days in a row, Erin must somehow have fallen asleep. She had been on the bed "just some seconds ago".

But as usually, she always ended up sleeping on the floor. Erin groaned and rubbed her head. It thobbed and felt hot, as some kind of liquit were striding down her head.

As she had remembered she could not afford to sleep, she had, as said, sat up abdurptly in her bed. But her head had not got through air - no. It had forcefully hit the bed.

Erin whined a little as she looked at her hand. Or more like crimson hand. She must have hit a vein or something on her forehead, because the blood seemed to seek freedom more then natural.

Or else did sleep have a connection with bloodflow.

Erin groaned and sat up. She hurried to the bathroom - making sure the blood would just hit her shirt, as she cleaned her forehead.

There was a reminder of her sleep on her forehead after she had slept. But the injury wasn't that great - just effective to get the blood out.

Erin sighed. She took a clean towel and dried her forehead after she had cleaned her face with cold water. The towel seemed to absorb a bit of her blood and water. But the bleeding had decreased.

Deciding to not care, she moved out. Her shirt was bloody, but, she could simply wash it later. She didn't have another one, so she would probably have to go topless untill it would soak and drie. And with someone bringing her food all the time, this would not be a wise decision xD.

Instead she sat down on her bread, and grimaced in the stinging pain. But it would just decrease soon, ne? And then go to a thobbing and numb state, and then itch when healing. Nothing to worry about.

Instead she looked at the door. Serveral plates were placed there. A cold wind hit her spine, as it got right trough her. How long had she been asleep?

But before the panic would strike her, she took the new book; Saladin: Noble Prince of Islam

it was a good book. And religious. Erin read through everything carefully. This was anti christian, easy to "smell" from long distances. And even if the book would contain violence, it would still not go over the edge.

((Hahaha XD Much about what Erin did. And little about the book. Gomen T_T; And the blood probably makes her look like she have murdered someone XD.

and sorry for my absence... Feel free to shoot me T-T ))

Erin smiled and put the old book away, and then yawned drowsy. Her mood had got very much better. Just the thobbing pain left, but that was nothing serious.

It was the history of the sea trade of the Arabs in the Indian Ocean from its obscure origins many centuries before Christ to the time of its full extension to China and East Africa in the ninth and tenth centuries. The book comprised a brief but masterly historical account that suprised even Erin. the book was simply not just geography, meteorology, and the details of travel, but also to the ships themselves, including a discussion of the origin of stitched planking and of the lateen fore-and-aft sails. Piracy in the Indian Ocean, day-to-day life at sea, the establishment of ancient lighthouses and the production of early maritime guides, handbooks, and port directories are all described in fascinating detail. So in this facinationg book, Erin was devoured by the books content in matter of seconds

"The holy land; generally refers to the geographical region of the Levant called Land of Canaan or Land of Israel in the Bible, and constitutes the Promised land. This area, or sites within it, hold significant religious importance to at least four monotheistic Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity, Baha'i, and Islam. Part of its sanctity stems from the religious significance of Jerusalem, the holiest city to Judaism and third-holiest to Islam.

The holiness of this land was the ideological driving force behind the Crusaders' re-conquest from the Muslim rulers who controlled it since the Islamic conquests. Numerous pilgrims visited that land throughout history.

Although the Zionism movement, the current State of Israel and the Israeli-Arab conflict are largely political, the dispute around the control of the Temple Mount in East Jerusalem is based on religious beliefs."

Erin sighed as she read the epilouge. This would be a loooooong book >>

Erin smiled and put the other book away.

now it was just slightly thobbing in her head. She looked if there was anything there to eat, and if, she took a piece of the food as she took the next book in line; hittite warrior.

The story was set in the Biblical time of the Judges before Israel had a king. The book introduced to a Hittite youth living in the Mediterranean about the time that Greeks, particularly those from Crete, were gaining ascendancy. The Hittites as a people are conquered and become fugitives. The protagonist flees first to the Phoenicians and then into the hills of Judea, where they meets Deborah, the prophetess, and Berek, the Israelite general who is to defeat Sisera. He ends up fighting in the battle on the wrong side, but eventually marries a Israelite woman and settles down in the area.
On the way, the book introduced all kinds of Hittite, Phoenician, Israelite, and Canaanite customs. It stood abouttheir dresses, their gods (particularly the dreadful Moloch), their methods of fighting, their habits of enslaving captive peoples, and so on. The book has obviously been carefully researched, and the plot is plausible and interesting, something Erin liked.

Erin sighed as her stomach growled. She put away the now read book and took a new one; Ancient Egyptians and their neighbours; An activity guide.

This book introduced Erin four cultures : the Egyptians, the Mesopotamians, the Nubians and the Hittites. The author accurately presents aspects of these civilizations such as history, geography, architecture, clothing, food, religion, writing and labor.

But there was even guide how to do some of the activities. These include constructing a boat, cooking ancient food, creating clothes, and writing on clay.

Erin smiled as she continued reading. But even if the book was suited for kids in 9 to 12 years of age, it was pretty fun for her to read.

(( Hey D: Missed mah question? ;__; ))

Erin smiled as she got to the next book, leaving the last one behind.

"The three African kingdoms discussed here were certainly impressive for their time and place, but seem to have left little lasting influence. They were primarily trading empires, with some literature (Islamic Koranic writing and study) some archectecture and medicine. Music, art and higher forms of literature that would be found in Europe in the Renissiance appear to be non-existent. It is interesting to note that all three Kingdoms were heavily influenced by Islam, a non-indigeneous religion. Thus it seems Africa's greatest kingdoms were due more to the influence of Islam than anything else. Much about these kingdoms remains obscure and will likely remain so, thus providing numerous revisionist historians the means to make all sorts of outrageous statements. The perfect atmosphere for invention and fabrication. Still, this book provides a clearer look at the early history of Africa more so than recent ethno-centric studies like those compiled by the dubious Louis Gates. Young and older readers alike can certainly find some merit in this work "

(( Woho! XD I win! *Shot* ... oAo alright~. ))

Erin smiled as she got to the next book. "Eyewitness: Ancient China"

"This book report is about the world's oldest continuous civilization called China. From 221 B.C to A.D 1912 in China was combined under a great and powerful empire called the Qin Empire. Ancient China was remained untouched because it was apart by the huge a scorching deserts, mountain ranges, and the ocean. It was cut off from other cultures such as India, West Asia, and Europe. China's social structure was a main role in maintaining its national stability. What also helped China together was a great philosopher named Confucius who encouraged people to lead an ordered family way of life. Once in a while the Chinese empire experienced short periods of unrest and disunity and attacks from foreigners. During those times they changed the governments and they built many innovations and technological advances such as gunpowder, paper, printing, and industrial machinery. The Chinese people still used the same customs and traditions and stayed remarkably to today.

The first dynasty to leave historical record was the Shang Dynasty. Their kings ruled the greater part of northern China from 1650 to 1027 B.C., where the soil was fertile and had enough water from the Yellow River. The ruler of the dynasty was a priest or known as the Son of Heaven. He had to believe that his empire has to maintain good relations between our world and heaven. The Shang Dynasty had many slaves, but they rely upon the labor of their rural population. The peasant farmers cultivated the soil and took parts hunting for food and served as soldiers in the army.

Confucius believed that the early years of the Zhou dynasty were golden years of social harmony. During his lifetime, he saw growing disorder and saw reducing power in the dynasty. This fight became more and more turmoil, which led Confucius to develop a moral outlook. It was based on happiness, respect for elders, and strength in the family. He had a saying that a good ruler should set an example by dealing with people. In return, the people had to respect and obey their emperor. Confucius also believed that different families should be governed by common family relationships with a stable society. After Confucius encouraged ancestor worship because it strengthened families. Then the Chinese came to see themselves as a part of a greater family.

For three centuries of war marked a decline of the Zhou dynasty. This dynasty became unstable, so in 481 B.C. China was separated into seven warring states. The battles became large in scale with crossbowmen, cavalry, armored infantry, and chariots. During the war many men were killed and wounded. In 260 B.C. Sun Zi, a writer, wrote the Art of War, the world's oldest military handbook, which gave nobles practice of warfare. Eventually the northwestern state of Qin was victorious and united the feuding lords under one empire. The military began to decline and the civil service grew in importance and Confucianism came in.

During the 250 years of the Chinese empire was occupied a non-Chinese people from the north of the Great Wall. China prospered for 150 years of Manchu, Qin, and different rulers who ruled China. For the first time Chinese technology fell behind and France, Russia, and Japan began to bully the Qin empire. In 1912, ancient China was brining to an end of 2000 years of imperial history. "

Erin smiled and picked up "Ancient China, treasure chest"

What she first encountered was a reviev on the book, that was pretty much what she thought of the book. "This kit comes from a series that includes "Ancient Egypt", "Ancient Greece", "Ancient Rome", "Ancient Sock Drawer". You are much better off going to a Chinese Grocery Store or an actual Chinese person for the same information. The Trinkets (I-Ching Coins and ink/brush combo) are nice, but with the proliferation of Chinese Astrology Kits and Chinese Ink Painting Kits (d*mn you, Klutz Press, what have you Wrought??), you do get more by buying the extra trinkets separately. No synergism here folks, just a handy cardboard treasure chest of Asian Exotica."

Erin smiled as she took the new book; Marco polo for kids.

the book was colorfull and sheerfull. She smiled as she began reading. "Ms. Herbert truly makes Marco Polo's journey come alive with pertinent activities, stories, tidbits, and asides. I also love how she starts with the perpective of one individual, on a personal basis, then leans out further into history, drawing the interest of the child further & further along, to a much broader perspective, then back to one on one with Marco Polo again. Most importantly, she does NOT leave God out of the equation; rather she dances about with it, allowing parents to delve into the religious aspects as they please, to the extent they please. While religion is not an overwhelming factor, it IS taken into consideration, and I believe any religion would feel comfortable with how she has tastefully addressed it. "

Erin smiled as she put the last book away with care and got to the next one; the great wall of china

"The Great Wall of China is a series of stone and earthen fortifications in China, built, rebuilt, and maintained between the 6th century BC and the 16th century to protect the northern borders of the Chinese Empire from Xiongnu attacks during the rule of successive dynasties. Several walls, referred to as the Great Wall of China, were built since the 5th century BC. The most famous is the wall built between 220–200 BC by the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang; little of it remains; it was much farther north than the current wall, which was built during the Ming Dynasty.

The Great Wall stretches over approximately 6,400 km (4,000 miles) from Shanhaiguan in the east to Lop Nur in the west, along an arc that roughly delineates the southern edge of Inner Mongolia, but stretches to over 6,700 km (4,160 miles) in total. At its peak, the Ming Wall was guarded by more than one million men. It has been estimated that somewhere in the range of 2 to 3 million Chinese died as part of the centuries-long project of building the wall."

Oh sh*t! How did you know? XDD *laughs* stalkaaaah! XDD Alright. I will (try) to add you XD but I will probably do wrong and blow up the whole world >_>;; ))

Erin smiled as she picked up the next book; Confius; golden rule.

"Confucius was a minor government official who desperately wanted to change the government of China. But because of his radical ideas, he was never given the opportunity. He became a scholar who taught his pupils to think. Many years after his death, his ideas were written down and have survived for thousands of years. Tidbits of Confucius's wisdom have even made their way into American fortune cookies. Because little is known of the fifth century B.C. scholar, Freedman makes an effort to establish what information is believed to be fact and what is more likely legend.
The book's beautiful antiquated illustrations complement the text. They are as mysterious as the life of Confucius. I especially like the little details in this book: the quotes from the Analects on the endpapers, the author's note detailing his observations of the celebration in China held for Confucius each year, and the annotated bibliography. "

--------

She sighed as she put the book away and stretched; finally a good book that was quite happy!~

She smiled as she took the new book that was quite thin and fewpages; but contained many pictures.

'Find out about ancient Japan'

it contained many colorfull pictures and there was interesting infomration about it. it was indepth information of old rituals; more indebth then most books she had read. oao.

Erin smiled as she took the next book who was called "A single shard"

"The book tells the story of a 12 year old boy named Tree-ear, who is an orphan and lives under a bridge in Ch’ulp’o with Crane-man, a crippled man. Tree-ear always watched potter Min make his pottery. One day when no one was around Tree-ear peeked at potter Min’s work. There were many objects, but only one interested Tree-ear, a rectangular lidded box. It was undecorated on the outside, but what about the inside? Out of curiosity, Tree-ear decides to look inside the box and found five smaller boxes. They fitted perfectly around each other. But then suddenly there was a shout, and Tree-ear was frightened and he dropped the box, which broke. Now he has to work for the potter Min.

One day, an emissary named Kim arrives to hire a potter for a new commission for the palace. While spying on other potters in the village, Tree-ear learns of a newly created technique and must decide if it is ethical to reveal the stolen information to Min. He decides not to but Min does get a chance to demonstrate that he can use the new inlay technique and sends Tree-ear to the emperor with samples of his best work. On the long journey to Songdo, Tree Ear passes through the busy town of Puyo. There, the boy is attacked by robbers, and all of the pots are smashed, leaving him with just a single shard to display his master's skill (hence the book's title A Single Shard). He continues his journey, confident that the shard demonstrates that his master is worthy of the commission. The emissary's assistant is about to throw Tree-ear out when Kim inspects the shard. Kim sends Tree-ear back via sea. Tree-ear goes to his master to inform him that Kim (the emissary) likes his work. Unfortunately, after sharing the news, Tree-ear learns Crane-man died. Min decides to adopt Tree-ear and his wife changes his name to Hyung-pil (his dead son was Hyung-gu and Tree-ear's new name shares a syllable, as Korean siblings' names commonly do). Tree-ear is finally able to learn how to make pottery."

-------------------------------

Erin smiled and put away the old book to begin with the next one with a wide smile. It was called "Step Into Ancient India" and seemed to look similar to the one about Ancient Japan. And she was right. The book was made just in the same fashion with beautifull pictures and small texts about everything; but the texts contained much information about everything.

Erin smiled once again and picked up fabolous men of greece.

"There is a whole world of history waiting for elementary-aged students in the "Famous Men" series.
Rob Shearer, the editor who put this 1904 book back into print, wonders at the common practice of focusing on American History for years while cramming World History into one year. He believes American History cannot be understood without a knowledge of World History.

The author's original preface in 1904 states: "In order to attract and hold attention, each conspicuous feature of history...should have an individual for its center. The child identifies himself with the person placed before him. It is not Romulus...or Alexander that the child has in mind when he reads, but himself, acting under the prescribed conditions."

There are 31 chapters, many of them short enough to read in one sitting. Your child will thrill with pride at Leonidas and his 1,000 brave men who stood against 2 million Persians at Thermopylae. Your child will be enobled to read about how Pericles "went among the people, calming and cheering them, and attending faithfully to the affairs of the government" during a horrible plague that took his son, sister, friends, and eventually himself. Your child will admire Demosthenes' determination to overcome his problems to become a great orator.

Famous Men of Greece is a valuable part of a child's education in World History. Have him narrate each story or record the person in his book of centuries to place these stories more firmly in his mind. "

But something was quite wrong, and he gave them the roman names; Zeus was named jupiter. Not entirely correct >_>;

---------------

it followed with the greece book "Trojan Horse: How the Greeks Won". It was well written and contained the information of how they got the idea of making an sovenour to the enemy; get it into the base after sneaking in their men, and then attacked at night.
